"I handed the sandwich to Gus and he said, ‘You’re in big trouble.’ I asked why and he said, ‘No mustard.’ And Gus was right - I did get in trouble for that one. But, heck, it was the 2nd or 3rd sandwich in space - I didn’t even get a first for that one!"

— John defuses the corned-beef sandwich myth, 2003.

Changed the name of the blog.

I thought about calling it “Forever John Young,” but I didn’t want the University Press of Florida to sue me…so I’m hearkening back to his words as he set foot on the moon.

I don’t always pre-order books but when I do it’s a memoir of the most epic human being ever.

This is seriously going to be the ultimate space memoir.

"Good grief…I’d not like to see any epitaph! I have no idea. I worry about a lot of things, but I’m not really worried about that yet. You’re really pushin’ me, aren’t you? (Laughter.) Shoot. (More laughter.) I’d feel sorry for the guy who wrote it."

— John Young, when asked about his epitaph by a BBC reporter, 1981.
